Yay! It’s finally time to reveal the pieces I created for the 6th Bead Soup Blog Party so graciously hosted by Lori Anderson at http://www.prettythingsblog.com!
My partner is the lovely and talented Lori Poppe of http://www.lorillijeanscreativecorner.blogspot.com. Here is the bead soup she sent to me:
My first project was to create a necklace using the beautiful sky blue pendant and the lampwork beads. This was a bit of a challenge at first, as I don’t usually work with pastel colors. Once I picked up on the black background of the lampwork beads I was able to bring a little of my “darkness” into the necklace with some black chain. I think it turned out to be an interesting combination!
Lori included a terrific handmade copper toggle clasp and I used it for this necklace of magnesite slabs and copper wire beads-
I found a use for the wonderful horse head beads by combining them with turquoise magnesite and a black lava bead in this bracelet and matching earrings-
It was so much fun being a part of this event, and I can’t wait to see everyone else’s creations! Here’s a link so you can follow along-

Awesome pieces, I love how you let the beads have a voice of their own – you made them sing!
Fantastic necklaces, especially the first one! Regards!
Great designs! I love the first necklace combining light and dark beads. 🙂
Fantastic designs – love the colour combo, the black really lets the blue shine =)
What an eclectic mix of beads you received. I love how different all the pieces are. That slab necklace is definitely an eye-catcher! They’re all great. Wonderful soup!
I love the blue/pink/black combo on the first necklace, it’s quite stunning.

I love the use of the black on the first necklace. And the bracelet and earrings are just plain fun. Lovely work.
Oh, yes! Love the black with these colors! Great designs!
Joan…Everything is so very Beautiful!!!. I LOVE the necklace…..very much!!! I am so glad you enjoyed working with all the of pretties I sent you. It was awesome to be your partner.
Thanks Lori – it was great working with you! I think we did OK for a couple of first time Bead Soup-ers, don’t you?
What beautiful soup you make! Each piece is prettier than the last! I am very partial to turquoise and that necklace is really stunning!
I love how you worked around the challenge of the focal being pastel. The result is stunning! The 2nd necklace is pretty awesome. I love those beads and what a statement! Great job.
Thanks for stopping by yesterday to visit my bead soup.
I love your style, Joan….but that’s not news. I can hardly pick which one I like best. I guess the one with the magnesite slabs. That is SO showy! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
So many great pieces! That slab necklace really flows beautifully for such large components. Way-ta-go!
Nice job Joan. I love this first necklace, so feminine. I would bet you are wearing the “horse’ beaded bracelet right now-lol. Can’t see you wanting to sell that. I would love to wear it. Great pieces.
Lovely pieces, the first necklace is so sweet and romantic…
Very cool pieces. The first necklace is so femanine. The turquoise so bold. The bracelet and earring are very nice also.
Beautiful! I think the first necklace is lovely and the second one is very striking!
Great work! I love the material mix and the big focal bead! You did a good job! Hugs, Doris
I love how you brought your style to the pastel beads – the result is a very sophisticated girlie piece. All the things you created are really great.
All your pieces are beautiful. I especially love the magnesite and copper necklace. Perfect for summer!
I love that you added a little contrast and ‘toughness’ to those pastel colors with the darker wire and chain. I probably would have stayed on the safe side with some silver. Thanks for reminding me that playing it safe is sometimes the wimpy way out! All of your pieces are really lovely, but there’s just something about the sweetness of those horse earrings that calls out to me. So not my style. . .weird!!
Overall you did a great job with this challenge. 🙂
I love every single piece you made.Tasteful, clean design
I like the contrast between your pieces. The first is my favorite just because I love the use of color. You did a great job on all pieces.
I really love how you pairs the pastels with the dark chain! I would have immediately reached for silver, but the black makes it look so stunning!
What a diverse array of artwork you put out. I have to admit that I would have been stumped with horse head beads, but the bracelet and earrings are stunning and the black pulled the first piece together perfectly
All your pieces are wonderful..! Great job..! 🙂
All of your pieces show ingenuity The first necklace is my favorite, but then I am a sucker for both aqua & pink. The black is an added bonus & a great accent.
Pretty designs!! You did an awesome job with your bead soup! Nice work!
You had a lovely soup and made wonderful necklaces 🙂
very nice pieces, I like how you combined the blue with the darker colours.
Those horse beads are great! I love the earrings. And I really love the way you used the lampwork in the first necklace. So romantic – great pieces!
I love your designs. would you mind sharing where you purchased you turquoise magnesite? beautiful!!
Susan, I bought that particular strand at a bead store in Dallas called Rock Barrel, but I’ve also seen magnesite slabs on ebay and Etsy. Thanks for your comment!
Lori, I am in love with the horse head beads. Would you mind sharing where those came from? I live in Dallas and Rock Barrel is one of my favorite stops on bead shopping days.
Joan – Your creations from the soup are lovely…I’ll have one of each. 🙂
Beautiful work!
I love the first necklace

Absolutely stunning designs! I can’t hardly tell which one is my favorite, they are all so awesome!!! I love each and every one of them!!! Amazing!!!
Such lovely pieces! You really did some nice work.
Beautiful!

Thanks! If you’re on facebook, be sure to join Lori Anderson’s group Bead Soup Cafe, and also check out the 2nd reveal that’s going on right now.
All your pieces are gorgeous but that second necklace takes the cake!
Oh, what a lovely soup mix you got – I love that blue flower pendant! I have to admit – when I saw your ingredients I thought I would make exactly the necklace you made: wire wrap those glass beauties and add the flower 🙂 Must be the first time when I think along the same lines with the artists.
Love your pieces – charming, warm, and using my favourite colour palette!
Thank you Alicia – and thanks to everyone who has taken the time to visit and comment – it means a lot to me!
