So happy to be participating in another of Lori Anderson’s fabulous blog hops! This one is the Bead Hoarder’s edition, and the beautiful idea behind it is to send your partner a bead (or beads) that you’ve been hoarding – something that really is special to you, as a true act of kindness. I love that!
My partner is the very talented Pam DeBoer of Pamela’s Studio. Be sure to check out her vibrant, artistic designs on her Facebook page!
Here’s what I sent to Pam –
I bought that awesome ceramic focal bead in a great bead shop we happened upon as my husband and I were passing through Savannah, Georgia on a special vacation 6 years ago. I loved this bead because it was unlike any others I’ve ever had – it reminds me of a Calder sculpture or maybe a Picasso painting. I chose a strand of tiny faceted agates and some Czech glass to go with it.
As I was getting ready to send it off I decided to paint the box to match, just for fun!
I really hope Pam enjoyed creating with it!
Now for what she sent to me-a beautifully detailed poly clay pendant-
And some great Tibetan clay beads, lampwork rondelles and my favorites – a pair of sweet handmade ceramic birds!
I ended up making 3 pieces, and they are all very different from each other. First, I used the Tibetan beads along with some pierced sterling beads and lampwork discs from my stash for this funky pair of earrings-
Next I made a long knotted necklace for the pendant using S-lon cord and sparkly little faceted Czech glass beads-
Finally, those little handmade birds – I perched them on a rusty tin birdhouse pendant along with Czech glass flowers and beads. Perfect for Spring!
I had a great time working with these wonderful beads – thanks for hopping along with me!

You made very nice pieces – most I like the little birdhouse – so cute!
Thank you, Elisabeth – the birdhouse is my favorite too!
beautiful!
Thanks, Annita!
Fantastic pieces Joan!
Thanks so much!
Hi Joan, Your earrings are fabulous. They are my favorite of your three designs. The simple knotted necklace lets that lovely flower pendant be the star. Great design. The bird necklace is really springy and cute.
Thanks, Becky! The earrings were fun to make but they’re way too long for my short stubby neck 😀
Beautiful! All of your pieces are creative and fun.
Thanks so much!
Lovely work! You’ve done a wonderful job with your soup – thanks for sharing with us! I have to admit that I particularly love the birdhouse pendant.
Thanks, that one’s my favorite too!
I love all three things. That polymer clay pendant is gorgeous, but it would have been quite a challenge for me. You totally complimented it with the beaded knotted cord. Nice job!
Thanks! It was hard to know what to do with it, so I decided to just keep it simple.
Hi,
your pieces are very pretty, but the bird house just stole my heart … Well done!
Alenka
Thanks, Alenka – I’ve been on a bird kick lately!
Lovely pieces. i love how you constructed the birdhouse.
Thanks!!
The earrings and the necklace are adorable, but on my gosh, that pendant is to die for! So sweet and so clever!
Thanks so much, Bobbie – it was my favorite to do!
The birdhouse is fantastic! Love it.
Thanks so much, Noemi – I had fun with it!
Oh my goodness. I love the necklaces, so different and unique. I especially love the use of the birds, I was imagining earrings and when I scrolled down and saw how you used them the the flowers and birds house I was pleasantly surprised!
Thanks, Maria! I actually did plan to make earrings with them, but when I saw the birdhouse pendant I went in a whole different direction 🙂
I love that you painted the box. The birdhouse pendant is lovely. I like the polymer focal as it looks a like 3-D Russian lacquer bead so your design let that shine and take center stage.
Thanks, Lennis! It was fun painting the box 🙂 The focal bead has so much lush detail I felt like I should keep it simple.
I have to jump on the birdhouse bandwagon, I love it!
Thanks, Ann – it was my favorite to make 🙂
I love the swirls you added to the bottom of the earrings. They create a lot of interest. And then the knotted, beaded cord with that pendant is simply stunning!
Thanks so much, Rachel!
You are always so creative! I love what you did here. The black and red earrings are lovely…..and the knotted necklace is so pretty. The bird necklace with the flowers is sweet, too.
Thanks so much, Terry – I appreciate your kind comments!
You sent an amazing bead. I’m drooling over it. When I scrolled through your post, things went from ‘wow’ to ‘out of this world’! The earrings and both necklaces are really amazing. You nailed them all with style and elegance. Great post!
Thank you so much!
Well, first I thought the earrings were my favorite….then I decided I loved the way your knotted cord went perfectly with that pendant, but then I saw the birdhouse! Love love love that! I am especially fond of birds and it was a beautiful design. Definitely one of my favorites so far.
Thanks! I’ve been kind of obsessed with birds lately – so glad Spring’s here!🐤
Your soup is wonderful as are your creations! Love the birdhouse pendant!
Thank you Dorothy!
Love everything you made. The pendant is like one of those lacquered Russian painted pieces, but all 3D, coming to life and I like how you kept the knotted design and colors simple to accent rather than complete with it. Love, love, love the birdhouse.
Thanks, Janeen! I worried that the knotted cord would be boring, but it seemed like anything else would be too much. Glad you like the birdhouse 🐤
Such beautiful designs – I love them all. But that birdhouse especially, it’s adorable!
Thanks, Tracy!
great pieces, especially the bird necklace, congrats!
Thanks, Dorota!
Fabulous pieces — I especially like what you did with the birds!
Thank you, Melissa!

Just love your bird house pendant!! So creative!! Also enjoyed your painted box to match your bead!!
Thanks, Terri – painting the box was a last minute thing, but it was fun!
Love the birdhouse, it is so quirky. The red and black earrings are stunning as well
Thanks so much!
Gorgeous! I would have never thought to use the birds like that… how inspired! It makes me happy to look at them. Your knotted necklace is beautiful, too–it highlights the pendant perfectly. Lovely work!
Thanks, Jenny! I was going to make earrings with them, but I’m glad the birdhouse worked out better 🙂
What great designs! They are all so beautiful and there is no way I could pick a favorite.
Thanks, Shai!
I don’t think I could pick a favorite, either, all 3 designs are charming.
Thanks, Carrie!
My favorite is the bird necklace!! so fun!
It was my favorite too – I’ve been a lot of bird jewelry this Spring! 🐦
Wow Joan, I saw your Birdie necklace on Pinterest and absolutely loved it, you put your soup to beautiful use. Love each one of your designs.
Thanks so much, CJ!
You made some beautiful pieces from your soup!!
I love how the put the little birds on top of a birdhouse, I would definitely wear all your jewelry.
Thanks, Jasvanti! 🐤
3 perfect pieces! Your lovely earrings look like hugs and kisses. And the birds are happily perched on the birdhouse surrounded by the garden of colorful flowers!
Thanks, Elizabeth! LOL I hadn’t noticed the hugs and kisses 🙂
What beautiful and unique pieces. Love them! Especially that bird house.
And the beads you sent Pam are lovely too
Thank you, Palak!
I love how you painted the box — too cool! And the BIRD HOUSE! That’s my favorite. You did such a great job!
Thanks so much, Lori – and THANK YOU for hosting these blog hops! They’re so much fun to participate in, but I can only imagine how much work goes into it on your end.
I just love everything you made. Each piece stands out as unique and incredibly creative. How your mind sees things – what a talent you have!!
Kelly, thanks so much for your kind comments!
Love them all! They’re very different – but go together naturally!
